I am sure gratitude is given to every customer. If you mean gratuity, then no. If you have over 8 people in a party, the restaurant can add up to 20% to the check for gratuity. They mainly do this so people do not ring up a $400 bill and leave only a $20 tip. It depends on the establishment.

It depends on how much the check is or sometimes how many people are in your party. Some restaurants in the menu they will tell you that they add 15% gratuity for checks over 100.00 or some places tell you that parties over 10 people gratuity will be added to your check. Other than that I don't believe they are allowed to add gratuity but I am not 100% on that.

Most restaurants add a gratuity to a check if it's a large party. I believe that they add about 20% to the check. This is a normal practice.
