well there are natural cycles that have caused warming over the history of the Earth....but the more recent rises in the GMST have largely been attributed to anthropogenic influence

I suggest you do a search on wikipedia for both as, to be honest, there is quite a lot of info on this topic, especially if you're doing it as a project

here's a link for you to be getting on with

Global warming can be brought about by a strong sun cycle.

If you look at global climate history, the Earth had been warmer when the dinosauers were alive. There have beeen ice ages, too.

This site has some research that is very interesting:

Visible light comes through the clear air to hit the ground. It is absorbed by the ground which causes the ground to get warm. The warm ground then emits infrared light, which cannot pass through the air back into space. Instead, the air absorbs the infrared light and gets warmer itself. The main reason air absorbs infrared light is because it contains water vapor. A less important reason is because it contains carbon dioxide. It is the increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the air from burning coal, oil and natural gas, that is the cause for concern about global warming. The natural amount of water vapor and carbon dioxide is necessary to keep the Earth warm enough to prevent an ice age, but too much carbon dioxide may case additional warming that we don't want, possibly causing the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets to melt and raise sea levels.

Global warming occures when the heat output of the sun changes and radiates more heat than in previous times. Likewise cooling occures when the sun produces less heat output.

The suns output is always changing. It cannot be constant. The sun, like the climate cannot be static.
