Does anyone know by which date form 1099-misc HAS to be mailed out - by law?

And what happens if I don't receive it by 01-31-2007? Do I not have to file?

Yes, I will get a W-2 for this year...last year I was self employed - ergo: 1099

It must be mailed by 1/31/07 per the irs.gov website. However, if this is from your employer, shouldn't you be getting a W-2 instead of a 1099?

By law, it must be postmarked by January 31.
