Long distance relationships sux.
My Husband and I had been together for 2 years when he had to move to USA. So the whole long distance thing started, and went on for 14 months . I even planned the wedding with him in the states and me in UK. But it can work.
Just sending little meaningless gifts (they dont need to be expensive), cards, they can be for no reason, just to show that they are thought of and being missed. We spoke throughout the day via texts, emails, and calls.
We may have had it easier as we knew each other really well before he moved. But even if you are still getting to know the person, the above works, it is all about lots of communication via various forms......hope it helps!

1. You really need to be realistic, especially with regard to your financial standing to sustain a long distance relationship. If you are a student on a tight budget, it's tough. If you are working, then you definitely need to save for trip(s) to visit your friend.
Attempt to visit each other at least once a year (as in international relationships) and more if it's inter-state.
2) You need regular communication with each other. The cheapest I think is via Skype, Yahoo & MSN Messengers (with webcam), emailing and phone card.
3) More often, make plans together, stay focus and be hopeful.
Good luck!

if u r determined from ur heart then distance is not a major issue in maintaining any relationships especially inthis era of jet speed.but as they say it needs 2 hands for a clap ,so the true desire of maintaining a relation should be from both side otherwise it is impossible to maintain a relation with even with a person who is nearer to u leave the case of far one.

Always call your friend to make him/her remember that you are here for him/her always.do not bother if he/she calls you or not.Keep calling and soon he/she and you will automatically feel your relationship has been becoming stronger.
