YES!! Step parenting is a whole issue of it's own. Parenting is hard enough but trying to be a parent to someone elses kids who resent you being there is challenging.

All sorts of people all sorts of questions. Categories don't change that. Step parents should just ask in the same areas as parents.

Absolutely! Step-Parenting is not black and white. There is a lot of grey area. For instance in my case, I became a step mom to a boy of eight, his mother is emotionally distant, he has trouble in school, and I am the disciplinarian. He is now 15. I have been a parent to him longer than either of his birth parents were actively involved on their own. It took me three years to get my husband, who is his father, retired military, to understand what was going on in our household. I have three older children that I raised on my own. Now I doubt that anyone else has a story like that, but at least there may be a facet that is the same. That is why a category is much needed.

Yes. While we strive to be "perfect" parents, and we use the cliche that they are our own children, inevitably deep down we realize the special love we have for a biological child is different. That is not to say we can not be superb parents - but we are imperfect beings raising a child with another absent parent lurking in the background. It's different and the issues are complex.

In think parenting covers it. If step-parent questions are posted there they are answered.

Not really. Parenting and step parenting go hand in hand. Don't treat a step-child differently.

Ask questions in parenting.

no. whether they are your step kids or your real kids, you treat them the same. you don't have a seperate set of rules for each, so why would there be a seperate category?
