I am going to Italy this summer, leaving from Portland, OR, and prices are very high since it is tourist season. I need the cheapest ticket I can find. I have checked the standard sites like orbitz, travelocity, expedia, etc and looked on all the major carriers websites. Any unknow travel sites out there that have good deals?

Yeh, check Seattle-based airfare consolidator Travelteam. They often have excellent fares from the Pacific Northwest to Europe. Compare their prices with a least a few other consolidators.

Also, consider Jetblue or another airline to New York, then take Eurofly to Italy.

Unfortunately, the summer is peak travel time for Italy so you're not going to find anything cheaper than on Orbitz. The only other thing I would suggest is breaking up the trip into separate segments, perhaps even spending a night in an airport. Usually, if you break up the flight with a long lay-over the prices are cheaper.

**********Just checked hotwire, they're even showing insanely high prices.... You will probably need to wait until around memorial day for when the summer sales come out. I'd check in on the major airlines weekly starting in May.

If you're pretty flexible (as to flight times), try hotwire. Kinda like priceline, but a little better. If you're flexible with your dates, you could just go when you see a last minute international travel deal on sites like united.

You may find more there if you can fly out of Seattle or San Francisco.

wait until around or shortly after spring break to check as ticket prices for summer travel tend to drop around march or april
