People are generally nice. They do'nt like to see other people sad and in pain SO they tell you to have fun and enjoy because they THINK this is what will help. Especially if the person hurting is a loved-one, they would not want to see that person grieving and depressed for too long.

Perhaps, they too have been there and would not want you to be hurting AND perhaps, what got them out of their painful experience was to distract themselves from the hurtful thoughts and activities, and focus more on having fun and enjoying life.

After all, after one gives oneself adequate time to mourn over a lost love, the way to get over it IS to move on, take life a day at a time, appreciate the good/positive things, and detract from thinking about the lost love and other negative thoughts (this just worsens a broken heart).

Just understand that people who want you to "have fun" or "enjoy" want you to do just that. They care about you and want you to enjoy your youth; not see you depressed.

Because not everyone has the priveldge of being in love or being dumped. Also because when you get dumped, I'm not denying that your not in pain however they have to realize that one there are more fish in the sea. So by enjoying it and having fun could mean to go out and see if someone out there is better then your previous. Having fun and enjoying it could as I've stated before, mean that there are some out there that have never been in love or in a relationship. So your having fun compared to what others could be.

The people who say this don't know how to be unselfish enough to truly share a relationship with another person. They are either single and have had bad relationships, or they have a spouse and are unhappy, wishing they were single like you.

But, in all fairness, anyone who says this to you really just wants to say something positive to lift your mood. Yes, we all know how badly it hurts to be dumped or to break off a relationshp, but life is not over. Accept the change to your situation, be strong, and get back up on that dating horse!
