I suggest that everytime you go to pick something up to snack on, you make sure you are aware of what you are doing. Here are some great substitutes:
1. Veggies with low cal, low fat dip. Have a bunch cut up in water in the fridge. They should last for almost a week!
2. Try airpopped popcorn instead of microwave popcorn. It has a lot less fat and is tasty! You can melt some cheese over it and it is still rather healthy and good.
3. Tuna with low fat mayo on whole wheat crackers. They are filling and really good with a bit of onion or pickles mixed in.
4. Have a bowl of nuts around the house. Just make sure you don't eat more than enough to fit in the palm of your hand. They are high in fat but also really good for you (try the unsalted variety).
5. Try cereal trail mix. Every have that little bit of cereal in a box that just won't make a bowl of cereal? Take the little bits and mix them in a baggie with some rasins, craisins, sunflower seeds and maybe even a few chocolate chips.
6. Grab a low fat yogurt. Great for your health!
7. Make a salad without dressing and store it in the fridge. Make sure you get the spring mix. Make your own dressing with vinager, salt, pepper and oregano. Add veggies like cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes and onions.
Good luck with the snacking!

It depends on why you are snacking. Snacking itself isn't bad. Studies show that multiple small meals through the day are actually better than gorging three times a day.
If you are hungry don't try and stop eating, just have around stuff that you like that is better for you and more filling (lots of fiber). I keep peanuts and carrot sticks on hand (celery is a good filler, but I can't eat it without dip or peanut butter. Also, drink lots of water (not soda or juice, it has to be water). The water helps you have the feeling of something in your stomach, but it won't give a sugar high and the crash, it won't make you thirsty and it won't make you crave other things.
If you just need something to occupy you then try chewing gum.

Erm, I think there's a different catagory for this question! Terrible eating habits usually means picking the food out of your teeth at the table, eating with your mouth open (ick!!) or talking with your mouth full!
Anyway, learn to cook for yourself. It'll help you in the long run when you start to properly look after yourself (ie when you eventually move out, I'm guessing you're in your early teens), and also YOU can make yourself three healthy meals a day. By the cooking doesn't mean a fancy three course dinner, it can be anything from making salads, to sandwiches, to simple pasta recipes to a simple homemade dinner. There's an abundance of simple guides to help you make something at home and they don't all require exotic ingredients!
Don't neglect the microwave as a fast, easy option for cooking jacket potatoes! The size of the potato does matter as to how long you cook it but as a rough guide, try 5mins on high heat, then stick a fork right into it. If it feels soft on the inside, then it's done. If not, put it back in for a few minutes more. You can fill it with just about anything you want but my recommendation is baked beans with a little cheese on top! (the last three minutes of cooking in the microwave, take it out, cut it open in a sort of cross shape...be careful not to burn your hands!...put the beans in the gaps and a bit of shredded cheese on top, then place it back in the microwave and restart heating)

I know this doesn't help but grab a glass of water. Reach for healthy snacks like carrot sticks. Have protein bars handy, a fruit smoothy helps fill you up. Frozen fruit Strawberries raspberry etc., a few tablespoons of plain yogurt, and some fruit juice, (o.j) or even a little milk. Don't add ice the frozen fruit will act as the ice. Throw in a banana.

as of now if u're worried about weight... try stuffing your fridge with lots of salads in small packs. for me rice helps. whenever i am on an eating spree i eat alot of rice with the starch removed or brown bread with some clear soup. and believe me i eat all day and am 95 pounds. its the rice and the clear soup.

why can't you prepair your own meals... I do not mean just opening a can or package... learn what a good meal is and what it takes to prepair it... then do it yourself... if you are old enough to post hear you are old enough to start taking responsability for your own eating problems... if you take the time to fix proper meals you will be exposing yourself to healthy food and not junk...If both of your parents at working you should be doing more to earn your keep.... fix the meals for them....

anybody can learn to control what thier mind thinks. once you figure it out you can actually teach yourself to do something else besides snack, and after awhile you will forget that you were ever feeling snacky.

Don't buy or keep food/snacks in your house. If you have no food, how can you eat?
