Removing static and boosting FM radio reception in my car?

My car is a 1974 Chevy Nova with the antenna in the windshield. I know they work fine with some kind of device. Do you know?

1974 chevy, the fm reception is poor. Is there a filter available on the market?

im not familar with older models but newer models with internal antennas are usually amplified and require a power lead. if you just installed a new deck and it is now staticy try connecting the blue wire to the antenna lead if it has one other than that i dont know about older systems and cant be of help but ican say antenna boosters dont work all they do is amplifie the db by about 2 which just makes the singal come threw louder not clearer
