I have studied Islam extensively, reading two separate translations of Qur'an from cover to cover, as well as numerous supporting materials, and also attending novice classes during my tour of duty in Saudi Arabia. There is nothing in the Qur'an of any scientific significance whatever, and having been a practicing scientist for decades at the time, I was more than qualified to judge. I saw a book at Maktaba Jarir in Riyadh titled Scientific Proofs ot the Koran, and of course I bought it. It was total garbage: no scientist of any knowledge would have advanced any of the arguments in that book: they were simply silly. But if the Qur'an cannot be judged on scientific grounds, are there any other grounds? There are, and it contains an error which is so serious that it has been the bane of every Islamic society since the industrial revolution. The conclusion which follows from this is: Muhammad was a swindler, and you'be been had.

I have studied it. I found it equally as offensive as Xianity. It's the same thing, in another colour.
And as a woman, I won't willingly be part of anything that takes away from my freedom. None of the Patriarchal monotheistic religions seem to have much respect for women. And being ordered to treat your wives like queens in Islam is not the same thing as respecting her as an equal and acknowledging her freedom to choose her own life.

I tried Islam and studied it analytically for many years, from every angle I humanly could, inside perspectives and out... I have a whole library of books on Islam from Islamic perspectives and otherwise, I've listened to speakers and so on. My conclusion, using logic and analytical thinking, study and so on Islam is NOT the most logical for me, nor very "scientific". In my hunting, research and study, Buddhism is the most logical to me and I'll stick with that, but thanks though.

Perhaps I'm missing something but what do the scientific method and logic have to do with religious faith? Faith is belief, pure and simple, for a short and sweet definition. It doesn't rely on science or the scientific method. Science, in contradiction, is based on fact and reason.

If I was an atheist and was going to choose a religion, I would never, under any circumstances, choose Islam. I am a Jewish agnostic, so if I were to dive into any religion, it would be Judaism which doesn't preach that we must either convert infidels or kill them. That's just barbaric and so are you.

Christianity doesn't disappoint atheists - you cant be disappointed in something you never believed in in the first place.
Religion, by nature - any religion - is not something an atheist has any interest in.
Get over yourself. Hold your own beliefs & dont push em at others

Get a life.
Very few who really understood Christianity, would never fall for Islam. I have done a lot of honest study of Islam and am now a Catholic Christian.
But there are many who never took the time or energy to really understand Christianity.
Peace!

So you think that a religion that holds a death threat for denouncing it should be considered scientific and LOGICAL ??
now, I know why we face such struggles today. You actually believe that being threatened to be killed for denouncing islam is ok.

I think Lion of Judah, or whatever, missed the word "Atheists" at the beginning of the question. I don't know anything about the Qu'ran, but my dismissal of the concept of God is such that a different religion will change nothing. New religion = new God. Nope, not an idea I relish. But thanks.
