When my daughter was 11 she was deeply involved in competitive gymnastics. That year she was competing in the Badger State Games as a level 5 gymnast. A significant error was made in tallying up the scores, and my daughter was announced as taking 1st place all around an 1st place on floor exercise. Realizing this she went to the officials and attempted to tell them that a mistake was made but no one would listen to her but she wouldn't give up and finally someone paid attention to her, and sure enough they discovered there was a mistake. While she was doing this all the other girls were hiding their medals so they wouldn't have to give them back. After re tallying the scores, she still wound up with a respectable 3rd place all around and 3rd place on floor. I always tried to teach her the importance of integrity and honesty, but I never knew if anything i was saying made an impression. But that day actually showed me she was listening. I have never been more proud of than that day.

My first is my son. He is 7 years old and is probably the greatest soccer player alive (from his daddy's perspective anyway). He's also the best big brother a kid could ever ask for.
My youngest is 2, and she is absolutely the light of my life. She was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 9 months old and takes all the finger sticks and pokes like a champ. She is my hero.

My son (the middle child) is going to be three years old tomorrow. He is a wonderful boy, full of laughter and joy. His favorite part of the day is snuggling in my favorite chair at night, drinking a glass of milk, watching a Disney movie, and slowly falling asleep. Which happens to also be my favorite part of the day...
