1- Is it safe? 2-Anyone have any good ideas?

I'm looking for a good spot to honeymoon which will ideally be a week and a half or so of wilderness camping/hiking somewhere, and then some resort to recuperate. Hawaii is of course on the list of options, but I was trying to think of other good places before I start the fare hunting.

Hi there! Oh this is great! I am not sure what country you are referring to, but you mentioned Hawaii so I must assume it is the
United States of America and have I got an answer for you.

If you like the outdoors and nature and hiking I would like to suggest the following spots.

Zion National Park,located in Utah
Bryce Canyon National Park also in Utah
Grand Canyon National Park,Arizona
Yosemite, California
Arches,N.P Utah
Canyon Lands, Utah

Any of the above and you will surely have the honeymoon of your life.Waterfalls, wild animals, well maintained trails with maps, beauty so natural you will never want to leave.Truly breathtaking vistas from sea level to over 15,000 foot altitudes, you will find it all in any one of those spots. I've done it.

Make sure you have enough memory in you cameras for more than 1000 photos,as I had taken more than 700.
and bring lots of water.I know you are experienced in backwoods so you know the rest, congratulations on your marriage and have the time of your life on your honeymoon.

If you need more info on any of these sites go to the US Dept.of Interior website.Have fun!

Hawaii isn't in "another country." It's right here in the United States.

They hunt Americans in other countries so be sure to pack an assault rifle and tons of ammo.
