drive all the way around the west side of the island the views are great. there is also a GREAT banana bread stand called kiki's and it is delicios. then also you msu drive to hana as other people have said. also there is the iao needle/iao valley. that was really beautiful and a VERY short walk. also drive to the top of haleakala. its amazing how the temeraturte changes and it is fun watching hang gliders go off the edge. then there is the hike to the 7pools. i did this a while ago and it was fun. make sure you bring a swim suit so you can enjoy the water!!!then there is hanalua beach and it is a little walk, through a beautiful junge into a GREAT snorkleing bay. also there is kaanapalui beach. it is perfect for everything from cliff diving(i went off and its only like 22feet with high tide) to boogie boarding, and even snorkeling! its my favorite place in the world. then up a little north of that is D.T. Flemming beach. it is perfect for boogie bording, at least in june when i go. i also reccomend eating in lahiana, and shopping there. i also have twice gone parasailing in lahiana and if you like that stuff it was a great veiw!!! they even dip you in the water if you want to. also shopping in whalers village then going out to the beach, its in like south kaanapali i think. also see a luau, and if you already have, like my family, we went to this majic show this last year and it was really fun. if you are interested in scuba diving i was certified there, and it was a great program. i hope that i have helped you!

Instead of listening to any of the answers here the first thing you should do is go to a local book store and get a book about Maui. Read the book thoroughly and then begin asking as an example how does a trip to Hanna work for a family of ? and what did you like best, the black sand beach, the seven sacred pools, etc.
If you rely on answers from this site you may be missing out on a lot of things that you will wish you had seen. As an example, my family was on our 8th trip to Maui before we got up at 4:00AM to see the sunrise at Haleakala. We nearly froze to death because we only wore shorts and took hotel towels to keep warm. We were treated to a spectacular sight as we saw the outline of clouds beginning to be outlined in the golden hue of the Sun and then to see the first sliver of light beginning to show to finally see this golden orb rise gently in the sky shinning a gentle light on the Silversword plants. All I can say is that I wish I had taken my own advice years before. Learn about them all before deciding what to see. I have been lucky enough to have a lot of trips there, some business, some vacation.
There is nothing worse than to hear someone talking about something you wished that you had done while you are on the plane home.

You can get great pictures almost everywhere in Maui. Haleakala, is a great place for pics.,the road to Hana, is very scenic, the Iao Valley in Wailuku, where the needle is located, is excellent for pics.On the west side you have the islands of Molokai and Lanai, and you can get beautiful pics. of ocean and Islands. Honolua Bay has great ocean pictures, and also the botanical gardens in upcountry. Well, enjoy Maui, Aloha.

whales are here! see the whales on a snorkel trip or specificlly a whale watch. The best spot for sunset/sunrise pics is haleakala. go to hana, makena, lahaina, nakalele blowholes, come to twin falls in huelo, thats where i live, it's beautiful, do the whole figure 8....just ask the concierge but dont let them trick you into booking something that's too expensive...there are a lot of good deals, you just have to look. Go watch Ulalena...it's the Hawaiian Cirque De Solie and it's great, some of the girls from my Halau preform there and my kumu sings
a hui ho!

Definitely see Ulalena.....great show and very cultural. If you're into sushi, don't miss Sansei (in Kihei or Kapalua). 1/2 off entire sushi menu Thurs-Sat after 10pm with Karoke. Lots of fun! A lot of the hotels have great picture opportunities as well.....the Grand Wailea, Westin.....lots of waterfalls and natural beauty throughout the properties.
