My youngest female cat starting peeing on our carpet, but when we realized what was going on, it was too late! We have since blocked the area, but the smell is overwhelming, I hate having guests over.

We have tried baking soda and vinegar, Kids N pets, and even a gallon of natures miracle, but to no avail.

We are at our wits end as this is an apt and we really don't want to lose our $1000 deposit.

PLEASE HELP

Try vinegar one more time...get a spray bottle totally saturate the area and let it dry on it's own...the vinegar smells for awhile but after it drys no pee smell.....I had to do that when my cat peed in my daughters room..worked great.....

White vinegar. It will neutralize the odor to the point that an animal will not use that area again. Try buying a gallon of it, and use it in a carpet cleaner. Then clean the carpet again with normal cleaner. We did this in a house that reeked badly and you could not tell that there had been a problem.

Note - if it has soaked into the flooring underneath, the only option is to replace the carpet and clean the floor under it.

Actually, to make sure that the odor is totally removed, you may also have to clean the carpet pad underneath. It may still be holding urine smell even if you have treated the actual carpet many times over. I have washed again and again my cats bedding which had pee on it and it was never quite right again because the filling on the inside still held odor. Sometimes you have to start over.

So, if that doesn't work... And if it is a common kind of apartment carpet which is usually brown or off white and not terribly expensive, you may be able to replace a section yourself if you can get a perfect match. If you do this, be sure also to replace the section of padding underneath that got damaged. To make sure it looks right you might want a professional installer put it in for you.

I tried all of those things to when my elderly cat started going on the carpet in my room There is a seller on ebay that I purchased a formula from that I mix at home and it was the only thing that worked. I forgot his name but if you go to ebay look up "Cat urine eliminator". The formula is sent via email and costs $8.99.
