Assuming you are from the U.S, most people above are partly right and partly wrong. You should talk to a counselor first but don't entirely trust them (some will lead you down the wrong road). Second check, find a dental school you might like to attend and check their requirements. Most often it will require you to take some biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and possibly some anatomy or physiology. Having said this, you do not need a degree in any of these subjects. How do I know? I am a dentist and got in without a degree. If you do well in the college prerequisites (3.5-4.0 average is great) and you score well on the DAT's 17-18 or above on a scale of 1 to 30, you should get in to a dental program. It is by far easier to get into a your own state's dental school (if they have one) and less expensive. Good LUck

Earning a BS in Chemistry the ultimate undergraduate degree for pre anything medical as it's a tough degree to earn. A very high score on both the GRE and MCAT or whatever professional school you are applying too as well as a great personal interview.

Extracirricular activities to show you are not all work and can "play" help too.

Competition is fierce for all professional schools ie dentistry, medicine right now and will continue to get more fierce so don't mess around with an easy undergraduate program.

Do it right and get into the school you want.

BS in Chem. is tons of math, chem, physics, biology and satisfies the prerequisites for med and dental school.

To become a dentist requires a medical degree. You will need to obtain a bachelor's in biology or a related science field, and possibly enroll in a pre-dental program. You will then have to attend graduate school and focus specifically on dentistry, which will involve a hands on practice with interning. Ask your guidance counselor for more info.

well u are doing the next step by going to a comm college. take your core classes 1st (as always) then take the classes that study the focus on what you want to become. you said a dentist. so take classes that are affiliated with that. your college counsler can help you with that. if u want to get an early start then talk with your Highschool counsler about this and they can help as well. Take a day where maybe u can set up a trip to the community college and talk to the counslers there and they can better assist you with that degree.
