Hey mizzou, those are good beers too. But if you want a real beer. Go to Germany. That will put some hair on your chest.

Oh yeah. Mizzou. Shiner Bock is a Texas beer and is made in the U.S. No watery taste there. It was made by German settlers who missed the taste of beer from their country, so they started to brew it themselves. You should try it. Go to www.shiner.com. It should tell you about all the different beers that they make. Who knows, maybe they have a beer for you.

I agree with you Rasta...all of that has to go into consideration as well.

If you are ever in Wisconsin, you have to try a Spotted Cow; especially if you like wheat beer. Most prefer it over Blue Moon. In Fact, just about every beer that New Glarus makes is a hit. Right now they haver a Piper's Scotch Ale that is something like 8%; also makes a trapest style beer. And a seasonal Weiss beer called Summer Solstice.

For the New Castle fan, there is a brewery in minesota that makes a Nut Brown Ale (or did, haven't found it in a while) that was preferred in personally conducted taste tests.

As for foreign beers, I like both Warsteiner Dunkel and ***** Modello. They are both dark beers that lack the bitter taste. And the latter is especially good for dealing with: "Oops, too much salsa!"

Bottom line though is that a) the selection of beers from around the world is pretty good in the USA, but not good enough and b) there are plenty of Micro breweries in the USA that make beer that is as good as anything brewed abroad.

My favorite beer are the free ones.( I'm only kidding. ) I'm a Budman and always will be but that never stopped me from trying any beer that I can get my hands on. I've been to several breweries and everytime I sample the beer that they give all the guests seems to be the best beer. Its so fresh and unspoiled.

All time favorite and Beer that I always look forward to drinking is
Hacker Pschorr Ocktoberfest. (especially in the Fall and summer)
Bass Ale is another good one and last one
I'll mention is Franzinkaner Wiesse Beer(great summer brew)

Kreuzberg Beer is very good, several magazines have selected it as the best beer in the world. It is the last brewery owned by monks.
Most of the time I drink either Mahrs hell, or Maisel keller. Both breweries are just down the street from me and on a hot summers day their is nothing like a good keller beer from a wooded keg to cool you off with.

wow, get out of american beer and get some good (better) stuff. most beers sold locally don't have the alcohol content that european beers do, and therefore usually have a watery taste. my favorites are "old speckled hen" or "black sheep ale", both products of the UK

*added* - not from the UK, just like the beer, and i agree mostly anything not made in the US is probably better than US beers. i've tried shiner, and it'll do in a pinch, but if i had my choice (which is the question) i'll stray from my american roots.

Delirium Tremens, a golden ale from Belgium, 9% alcohol, voted best beer in the world on several beer-related websites.

I'd say Beck's, Guinness, Sierra Nevada (any of them), Dos Equis, Sam Adams and Coors Light

Oh, yes, Shiner is good but I also love Stella Artois...and most bars serve it in the cool Stella glass.
