I have an 'extremely round face' like yours, and am 'slightly overweight' but I also have a problem that you probably don't ... the 'hot flashes' of menopause. I had 'extremely long' hair that was very HOT, especially at night and I went to a 'really good hairdresser' in a 'salon' that 'seems to be' for very young, hip people ... and I told the hairdresser my 'problem' and he cut my hair for the FIRST TIME EVER IN MY LIFE in a 'cute, short hair cut' ... and I think that the 'hairstyle' you really 'need' to look 'thinner' and a LOT nicer is as 'close as a good hairdresser' ... so go talk to one ... or as many as you 'want to' and don't actually get ANY 'work done' until you feel 'totally comfortable' with the hairdresser and his/her 'sense of style' ... and be sure to tell him/her EVERYTHING about you, including if you are on a 'diet' and if you are on any 'regular medication' even if it's over the counter stuff ... and also any 'major health problems' you may have ... because all of THAT 'affects your hair' and your hairdresser will tell you what you need to do ... even if it means he/she doesn't do anything until you've seen a 'doctor.'

I personally would start with some layers around the face area starting around the cheekbone and angle towards the chin. I woudl also suggest having the crown area teased/layers so that you can get a little lift. I would darken the hair based on the complexion of your skin I would go two shades darker then if you could given you don't have milky colored skin. IF you are then go with honey brown and add some chunky blonde/and dark highlights to give emphasis to your hair. I have a round face as well and have tried all sorts of hairstyles.

Good luck.

I too am in a rut as to what to do with my hair..it is very blah ....long layers with lots of yuck sort of curlly hair. One color....blah.....

I agree with some of the answers that are posted. I too have a round and full face. I think that the best style is long sexy layers with fringes jaggedly framing the face. Sort of like Jennifer Anniston old haircut but just longer. Remember Jennifer's face was full at that time also, but her Hairstylist knew that Long sexy hair distracts the fact that your face may not be a perfect oval. it also looks exotic.

It can be tempting to chop your hair in a short, styled hair cut.
I encourage you to keep it long!

Often times older women think that long hair isn't appropriate for their age, when really having long hair makes them look younger and only enhances their beauty. After all, how many millions of dollars do Americans pay for Botox and cosmetic surgery to stay young?!

Changing it up a bit with some fringe or bangs would be a nice idea, or adding a few small highlighs. Make your hair your best feature!

A good style for round face shapes are to have layers angled toward the face. It makes the face look longer and leaner.

Do not have curls. Curls will make your face look more round and more full. You should get a cut that is styled high and sleek to get the face the appearance of length.

Curl your hair, and put in in a high ballerina bun, and let strands of your hair out. (but to do this, you need to grow your hair out longer.)
