Philippians 2:12-13
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure

Dominus Satanis,
Philippians 2:12 - Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
Clearly, if the writer of this epistle believes one should "work out your own salvation," then that means you DO have some responsibility for it.
Now, varying groups will suggest that once you've accepted Christ, you don't have anything further to DO. This may or may not be the case. However, my belief is that you do have other things you are required to do.
Mark 16:16 - He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
According to this scripture, one has to believe AND be baptized. Further, one has to be baptized in the trinitarian method (In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit).
Matthew 24:13 - But he who endures to the end will be saved.
Lastly, one has to DO things to support the kingdom of God.
James 2:14-18 What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him? If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. But some one will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith. "
Bottom Line - Yes, you have responsibility.

Well the bible does say to seek out your own salvation.
I'll take my chances as an atheist though.

You have to accept Jesus.
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

No, the whole believe in my religion or be tormented for eternity is much older than your religion actually, it never gets any less laughable though.

Of course we do but it's a personal choice how we go about it or even if we choose to worry about it.
