I am not sure what part of Texas you are in, but you can try re-sale bridal shops. I haven't been able to find a rental place in my search of a dress and in the end got credit with Alfred Angelo and was able to buy the dress I wanted (went the Bridal Show here in Dallas).

Sometimes your local Thrift stores will get some "up to date" gowns they will usually run around $200 depending on the designer. I saw 2 gowns by Jessica McClintock (sp?), at the local Goodwill, that were not old fashioned looking they were actually in style...they were selling them for about $250. Also try eBay...but i would suggest goin to a tailor or someplace to get your measurements and then start looking...you cant go by the size...better to go by measurements.

You have plenty of time to find a dress....they say to buy your dress as soon as possible...but i would wait b/c a) your taste in gowns may change, b)your weight changes c)if you buy your time right you can save more $$ to buy a dress you really want...i say wait till about 4 months before the wedding to buy the dress.

sorry for the rambling...lol

I don't know of any places in Texas, but why not call all of the local dry cleaners to see if they have any dresses that people have not picked up? You can often buy dresses from them, just by paying the dry cleaning costs!
