Islam has some tolerance, but not when it comes to accepting other religions. But no doubt kids who undergo the Islamic religious studies are often disciplined and decent.

I know a coule who are Muslims. They live in England, but he is from Egypt and she is from Turkey. They both speak English, but would like their kids to learn Arabic. Unfortunately, they don't want to send their kids to Arabic schools because they are afraid some of the teachers might be "biased". This is in London, where a few schools are known to be a bit extremist. I don't know if it's the case everywhere, and I don't think it's the case actually.
Most Muslims are tolerant. We only hear about those who are not.
Reunion Island is a French Island in the Indian Ocean where people are very religious. You find Christians (mostly Catholics, but a few Protestants as well), Muslims, Hindus, etc. People get along pretty well, and the ones who are at the head of each religion there meet on a regular basis. Different religions can live together. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case in most places.

Islam does no longer have a unmarried chief, the way Roman Catholicism has the Pope. each and every imam (chief) makes a call for himself (no females allowed!) what Islam ability to him and his congregation. Many, many Muslims believe that Islam is a faith of peace; that "jihad" ability the holy conflict interior your self to stay away from sin and be a good human being. And different Muslims believe that Islam ability jihad adverse to anybody who isn't a Muslim. same to the Christian Bible, the Islamic Koran resources verses to justify both point of view. searching lower back at their heritage, regardless of the actuality that, provides some extra clues. even as the Muslims ran Spain, they tolerated Christians and Jews. even as the Christians ran Spain, they banished each and every of the Muslims first, and then each and every of the Jews in 1492. Christian England banned all Jews at one factor, too. And Christian New Englanders murdered "witches" and drove away anybody who did not belong to their particular sect. Christians had the Crusades, Muslims have had jihads. No faith comes out of one in all those study searching one hundred% holy, tolerant, or harmless.

Does islam appear to be a religion of tolerance? For all appearances sake, I must say not, and they were the musselmans, mussulmans our forefathers warred with in the pirating days. They have never been tolerant of others religions or beliefs. While some may be, the radicals ruin it for those that are tolerant. Those radicals are quite high in numbers, and lets face the truth, and stop lying to ourselves. I think that any religion that holds a DEATH THREAT over peoples heads if they leave it , can HARDLY BE CONSIDERED TOLERANT ?????

NO religion is the religion of tolerance. The very fact that it is a religion precludes tolerance. The differences are in the varying degrees of just how intolerant they are in relation to each other.

No islam is not a religion of tolerance. It is taught in the quran that I am an infidel and if you kill me you go to heaven. Christians have a commandment, thou shalt not kill. We as Christians tolerate other people, but do not (as ordered by god) accept their religions. For the ones that say that christians are intolerant, don't base our religion on the words of men. Base our religion on the words of the bible. There is evil in all men, so that is not a fair argument.

Think of it this way... Christianity is supposed to be a religion based on Christ's teachings, however you have deluded people who use Christianity as the means to justify cruel and harmful behaviors... it's not the fault of Christ's teachings or Christianity per se... it's the issue of PEOPLE. People, who have a desire to inflict harm, prop up their own egos, etc. will find anything in their means by which to do it. Religion is only one such "tool" that people use, whether it's Islam, Christianity, etc.
Muslim scholars who twist that religion like that to breed hate and harm, do so with their own agenda in mind. It might help if you study psychology and how it relates to people and religion, you'd find it fascinating "stuff".

you have a point. preachers preaching hate--does that make the religion questionable??
there is just alittle point you will have to keep in mind: all religions--christianity, buddhism, hinduism, islam, judaism--all give out the same message of tolerance and love, and the same message of being the most superior of all possible religions. all of them will tell you that their preachings are infalliable and all of them will tell u that they give u the ultimate salvation.
now what u pick up and what you believe in is your choice.

Yes, true Islam is the religion of tolerance, but there are people who give a bad image of Islam.
And in Islam its considered a taboo to speak badly of other religions.
