Theres this girl in my class(shes 1 year older than me) we hardly talk to each other but at times complements me on how good my work is. Then this one time she came over to me and said "you seem like a cool guy and would like to get to know you better". But she talks to mostly everyone in the class.

Well there is only one way to find out. Try talking to her more at school simple things like hello how it's going (or however you would put it) or maybe ask for a bit of help with homework. That's if your interested in her.

it sounds to me as though you are getting mixed messages,or even confusing sex and nurturing.
the girl has only complimented you on your work.
sometimes mixed messages can be a result of feeling lonely,and isolated with your emotions.
