Like humans, some dogs have longer memories than others. That's part of why some dogs are easier to train.
Some dogs have a hard time remembering from one day to the next. But the family used to have this cockapoo that at one time belonged to my grandfather. He had a stroke and died in the hospital. But the dog didn't know that. My father sold my grandfather's truck to a friend of his. And some months later, the friend came by driving that truck. It wad heartbreaking to see that little dog so excited that her man was coming home- and then to be so disappointed.

A dog remembers its whole lifetime, anything that happens during a dogs life, they will remember. Dogs that are mistreated always remember, because i know people who have adopted dogs that were mistreated and they never forget, the way different people approach dogs depends on their rememberance of them to how they are treated.

dogs have good memories, thats why if anyone were to hit or abuse a dog it would be scared of you or not ever be the same around you. Or if a dog was at a shelter for being starved or abused as a puppy they might turn out to be very shy and frightful as they get older. this is because they dont get that if one person is mean it doesnt mean they all are. thats why tou have to be very caring and friendly to abused animals.

I will tell you I have 3 rescued shar-pei's that were all abused, They never forget, they are weary when meeting new people and my male doesn't like men obviously because a man abused him. They never forget but they do become bull-headed and trying to see if you remember, dogs are extremely smart for what most people give them, they are like children testing to see if you are going to hold them to account on something or not. Hope that helps.

A dog may remember all of it's life; but what is more important is which memory it decides to keep. Sometimes they might chose to ignore a memory, "forgetting" .

canine keep some recommendations for their entire lives. they might undergo in recommendations purely as long as people can, yet no longer the degree of element that we do. whilst my canine replaced right into a pup, he accidently knocked over a broom and to at present continues to be terrified every time he sees a broom. canine customarily undergo in recommendations smells and sounds. My canine does not even might desire to make sure the broom, yet as quickly as he hears me sweeping, he hides in his crate.
