"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." - John 10:11-16

The hirelings, or those paid for money (99.9% of preachers) are leading the flock to the slaughterhouse. When will the sheep hear the voice of the True Shepherd?

There are false shepards, who lead sheep away to sewage pits and thrive on controlling ignorant or unsuspecting people so they can feel powerful, And then there's The One True Shepard who knows and loves his flock ,prizing each and every one. His sheep know Him, and trust Him, because He has proved Himself to be dedicated and faithful to His Father and His heard. He knows the way to the green grass and fresh water, because He is well acquainted with the path, always avoiding the slippery slope, and hard way.Its the false shepard(satan) who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, But The good Shepard(Yeshua(Jesus),who has not come to condemn The world, but that the world through Him might be saved, it is He who comes to Give life and life abundantly.

Depends on the shepard and the flock.

I think that if you surrender your brain to someone who says they know what the lord is telling them, then you've taken your first step along the scary path.

First of all, the Shepard is funky. And second of all, the slaughterhouse is junky.

THE LORD is my shepherd [to feed, guide and shield me]; I shall not lack.
He makes me lie down in (fresh, tender) green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
He refreshes and restores my life -- my self; He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him -- not for my earning it, but] for His name's sake.
Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil; for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.
Surely or only goodness, mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life; and through the length of days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place

If not to the slaughterhouse then at least to a fleecing.

That depends on who the Shepard is that you are referring to.

I am Catholic, if they are leading me wrong, it is on their heads.

Peace!
