I haven't yet but should I worry?

I saw someone posting links to those chick tracts things. I remember one of those tracts...

I think someone rolled a 1 on a d20 when making an intelligence check. What do you think? Should I just give it up and admit I am a pagan or something?

OK, you have to read this tract to see why I'm asking:

My question was a little sarcastic. As a christian, I'm offended by some fundamentalist behaviours too... No wonder the world thinks we're crazy!

Hello, WITCH here! I think you got some pretty funny and sarcastic answers! (Lotta is full of......well, you know). Yes, I have played D & D, but I was a witch before I ever played, then and frankly I found it kinda boring (D & D, not witchcraft). Some people will use any excuse to condemn anything they don't understand and don't want to know anything about. BTW of all the people I played D & D with I am the only witch, the rest are OPEN-MINDED Christians, one is even a Deacon. I agree on the 1d20 reference! If you like being a Christian, by all means continue to do so! It is YOUR life path. If you have looked into Paganism and witchcraft and would like to stop being a Christian, again, it is your life. D & D will not change who you are. And you should not let other people make decisions for you. Besides, anyone with half a brain knows that in real life we can't cast magick spells like in D & D!

No, but be prepared to be harassed by stupid people (might be a good idea for them to make an intelligence check before they open their mouths). And don't leave your books in public places, even work. A friend had a bunch of anti Satan stuff written all over the cover of his brand new necromancers guide. Some people also think Harry Potter books lead to Satan worship.

As long as you can tell fantasy from reality you are safe, though not from the nincompoops that don't know the difference.

Added: Okay I just followed the link and couldn't help laughing, a lot. I am christian and a fan of AD&D. I know they probably meant it seriously, but it came across as really good satire on the stupidity of some christian groups.

I think I must be in the minority. See, I've known quite a few people who've read fantasy/adventure novels and play D&D who suddenly think that witchcraft or Wicca is right path for them.

Needless to say, Wicca or witchcraft become too mundane for them because they expected too much. They expect to be able to point a wand and have sparks fly out of the tip. Thus, they go through a phase where they think being a witch is "cool" and eventually leave either or both behind and move on with their lives.

I, on the other hand, have never read fantasy/adventure novels, nor have I ever played D&D. As a matter of fact, I detest both. And I detest the phase these kids go though. It's absolutely disgusting.

I know what Wicca and witchcraft are really about and that's why I've been a practitioner of both for most of my life. I'm very proud I wasn't lead to this path through movies, adventure books or silly kids' games.

My question is why would you want to play that in the first place but here is also something to think about ! Deut 18:10-12 also Gal 5:19-21 Isa 8:19 Lev19:31 2nd Kings 21:6 1st Cor 10:21 you really dont want to go there anything involving the occult or demonism is a very bad thing to get involved with hope you will be wise and avoid the game and any thing like it Gorbalizer

Dewd, this is a dated question

They were saying this when I was playing D&D at 9 years old. It's been a LITTLE less than 20 years since then... My mom never had to sprinkle me with holy water. My penchant for video games has ultimately been stolen my (lack-of) patience for role-playing games.

But I still play final fantasy, and baldur's gate. These are actually more educational games than most other games out there. A child could learn the concept of basic mathematics, currency, economy, and long-term planning (telescoping). Seeing as how it's an interactive \game, you should be able to pause and tell them that their can of sprite is not a pixie nor a nymph.

No, playing games and reading books will NOT cause you to practice Witchcraft.
Witchcraft is a religion. Many people practice it. It is NOT Satanic, nor do they believe in Satan. They do NOT sacrifice animals.
It is actually an Earth based religion that takes many years of study and practice. There are many different Traditions that fall under the heading "Witchcraft", but many more that fall under the heading Witchcraft/Magick/Paganism.
You cannot instantly become a Witch. That would be like going into McDonald's one time and believing that will turn you into a Big Mac.

Nope. I play D&D regularly and haven't once resultantly been interested in witchcraft.

What kind of knowledge check is this? If it's Knowledge (is this guy pagan), I have a +13 to my role.

Oooooh check it out, I rolled an 18, so close to a crit! Ok so... that makes it a 31 for the check.

You're not a pagan. But you ARE already a D&D player... you're just in the closet.

I've played it. It's not the best game system, but it was ok and kind of fun. Like anything, there are people who get carried away with it to the point were they get all delusional. But that happens with regular religions too what with all the damn car bombs going off everywhere.

Don't worry about it, it's just a game. Just make sure you play it with regular people who aren't all nuts.

No one and nothing can make you into something you don't want to be...it's a game, if you are susceptible to things and think you'll become embroiled in something you'd rather not be involved in, then quit...it's up to you and you know you best.

Like all things in life, something can be taken to extreme if you allow it to be. Crossing a street can be dangerous...you simply proceed with caution in things you aren't certain of.

Ha ha ha no!

Don't worry, you'll see the difference in the weirdos that do witchcraft and those who collect minis and dice. Even someone with a Wisdom of 6 will know that.
