An allergy can cause facial swelling but that indicates an anaphalextic allergy. Any swelling, hives or difficulty breathing is the most serious allergy type and needs to be assessed by a doctor. At any point it could progress to a more serious reaction even if past reaction appear mild.
There are other medical issues that could cause this swelling. You can say to your boss that they should go to their doctor or ER but you can only suggest it. She will do what she chooses and you need to remember that beadryl is a good medication but it does take time to have full effect.
She probably has experienced this before and know what she is doing though. I have severe allergies and people always more worried then me or my doctors are. I know it is scary but the swelling won't disappear right away. Try just doing something nice like getting her a favorite drink or snack (if she isn't getting worse or having trouble breathing)
Good luck

Your Boss is lucky to have you around.. someone that actually cares about someone other than themselves.
Your Boss is having an allergic reaction to something, my guess is because she woke up like this, that possibilty something bit her in the night.
I would tell her to go home.. that or take her to the Doctor, if she puts up a fuss, hit her hard on the head, not too hard though just enough to knock her out long enough to get her to the Doctor, some bosses can be very stubborn. ( LOL ) - I'm kidding of course.. don't hit her, just offer to take her to the Dr.
Benadryl was a good choice though.. but if it's not working it's off to the Doctor for her.
Good Luck

Sounds like an allergic reaction. Perhaps she started using a new make-up or cream that she is allergic to. Without more information, it's hard to know if it is more than just a topical reaction. If it is topical, the benadryl she took and a cold compress will probably help. However, if she is experiences any tightness to her throat or problems breathing, she would need immediate medical attention.

My face has swollen up the next morning after a good cry the night before. My face has also swollen up because of an allergy. If she's worried, she really needs to see her doctor.

I would guess it is an allergic reaction. As with most medical conditions her best bet is to have a doctor check her out rather than looking for answers in a public forum like Yahoo Answers.

If you are asking this question for your boss, he/she must be an idiot for not speaking up for themselves. You need a new boss. They should get their butt to the doctor ASAP. It could be an allergic reaction to something but it's best to get checked out just in case.

Ow!
She's having a very nasty allergic reaction to something. Since she woke up with it, either it's something in her pillow or something she ate last night.
She can try washing her sheets in allergen-free detergent, fluffing her pillows in the dryer, and vacuuming her mattress to see if that will help.
Watch her for anaphalastic shock. If it happens, get her to the ER one way or the other.
Good luck!

she couldve had an allergic reaction to something she ate. tell her to go to the doctor and check it out to be on the safe side. if it is an allergic reaction, then the doctor can prescribe her something that would make her face come back to normal in no time. my sister recently had an allergic reaction to shell fish.

Your boss isn't very bright. What she should do is see her doctor. Ask her if she's made an appointment yet.
