I see your point, but these people's lives were ruined my Castro. In many cases, he actually killed their loved ones. Disrespectful-yes. Understandable-definitely.

You're correct about an average person, but people usually party when ruthless dictators perish. I am not cuban, but the party will not last long due to the fact that the next generation is waiting to take over with the same communism.

The party should be hosted by the coast guard and law enforcement, considering the overtime they're gonna get from chasing down the incoming folks.

I'm sure that people aren't "planning" to have party hats, noise makers, and cake. I think that is US media inflating the story quite a bit. I'm not sure of how Miami/American Cubans are different from Cubans still in Cuba.

As with what happens when ANY famous political figure dies, people take to the streets. You do have to bear in mind that with his death, as with other communists regimes, the people do equally celebrate and comiserate with what the future will bring. It's a scary thought! But...also knowing Cubans, there will be a lot of Rum and Dancing because thats what you do when people die, and when babies are born, and when you have birthday, and when you build a house, and when you go out on the street.

In Cuba, people who are in their 40s have never known life without Castro. Imagine. No religion. No travel. It just amazes me.

I agree, it is in bad taste. I think we're spending too much time and money on an event we have no control over...will his death and the "celebration" of it change any of the conditions that exist in Cuba?

do you think castro feels guilty about the opression, poverty, torture, and mayhem he has created in Cuba? They should throw a freakin parade when he dies, then overthrow his family, and cronies and create a democratic government!!!!

well i think it will be rude, my friend did a study on fidel castro , all the rich cubans live in florida because they did n't want fidel castro to take half of their money to give to the poor so everyone in cuba could be equally wealthy. i think it is very rude of the rich seflish people to do that

Did anyone party when Saddam Hussein died? If not then yes. If yes, then no. :b

I agree. It is unseemly and crass, no matter what you think of him and his policies. It wins Cuban exiles no friends. They should all go to mass and pray for his soul.

I agree, I think whoever is planning it is lacking in any taste whatsoever.
