atheists, kindly tell me: what is it precisely that you fight? i think it may be ORGANIZED religion rather than someone's simple belief in a power greater than us that created Universe. for example, consider the big bang theory: that before stars and planets, all Universe consisted of was "space" and "hydrogen molecules." ok. if you take the big bang theory as proof that there is no g-d, no higher power of creation of LIFE, then tell me, who made space, who made hydrogen? as for me, i do not like organized religion nor do i align myself with it because it is far too political and asset centered. in addition, fights over what religion is correct and which is not is the basis of useless loss of life. i find a living religion, not based on ideas of fire and brimstone or heaven for good deeds (they are a gift to give, not a reward), more appropriate for me to practice. i guess you might call that buddhism, but buddha looked at appreciation of sheer life, g-ds that supported it.

ADDED: is your anger directed at 'people of the fath', which ever faith they choose to follow, that perhaps are extremists, who try to force their opinions based on their utter belief that everything written in the bilble is truth? that would make sense. or really now, are you angry at the simple person that believes in a power that is greater than himself and greater than current scientific theories/proofs (?) that g-d could not ever have existed? why would human science be able to change the fact that we cannot synthesize gametes that are the start of almost all life on our planet? i find it so interesting that of all scientific doctrines that astrophysicists (rather than biologists, for example) are those that are closest to believing in g-d.
i also do not believe that we have to get 'proof/evidence' of no creator of wondrous life/life of stars/creation of elements that verify that something out there has some interesting designs on all unique forms of life: even you are unique!

"then tell me, who made space, who made hydrogen?"
Not who, WHAT. And we don't know WHAT started the whole process. Nobody does. But it would be pretty delusional to imagine it was a magical Sky Fairy. Why not just throw reason and sanity to the wind and start worshipping the Flying Spaghetti Monster in earnest? It's just as silly and just as likely to be the truth as the Magical Sky Fairy of Islam, Judaism, and Xianity.

Technically, atheism is the believe in no god. Theism is the belief in god and adding the "a" means "no". This is a rough translation but I wanted to make sure you understood. Atheism is actually considered a religion and they do not really fight anything as a whole.
I should also note that being an atheist does not mean you believe in the big bang theory or even evolution. It just means you do not believe there is any kind of god.
You should go to wikipedia and look up the different religions. It would be enlightening for you, I'm sure.

I don't believe that there is any higher power than plain ol' mathematical natural law, such as physics. To sum it up succinctly: I don't believe in any deity or creator at all.
The universe was not created -- created implies a creator.
Prior to the big bang/inflationary era, there wasn't even space or hydrogen. Our visible universe completely did not exist.
------------
Exactly how is the universe sufficient proof of a divine being?
And why do you assume atheists are angry with God or religion?

You clearly don't fit into the category of an atheist.
An atheist doesn't believe in anything, period. Thats what an atheist believes. get over it.
You go on to try and prove God, yeah, good luck with that. You cite the "creation" of the universe as proof of God, but why couldn't the universe have always existed, in a cycle of expansion and compressions, infinite times?

I'm a Buddhist, Deities have no role in Buddhism. Buddha tought we are not immortal souls, but collections of actions and thoughts that can be transferred through live through the karmic process. It is the religion that has helped me the most spiritually, and the only religion of the 5 top major world religions that does not contradict itself to science.
It is not always the path we choose that defines us, but how we use that path to enrich our lives and the lives of those around us. That is the one of the main things a Buddhist must understand, we only exist in proportion to those around us. Our actions effect others in ways most never even try to comprehend.

Atheism means lack of belief in a god or gods, i.e. it is the opposite of theism. If you don't believe in god, then you are an atheist. However, you could still belong to an organised religion such as Buddhism, which as far as I'm aware is an atheistic religion

I think that organized religion can make anyone shutter! nothing good comes of this! so maybe that's why many feel appalled by Christianity(or others) because that is a huge part of peoples life!
not to mention that "in your face" mentality that all these bible thumpers have can be pretty overwhelming ! But there are many who do not belong to that scary category , no organization , no bible thumping and so on!

Atheists do not (by the very definition of the word) believe in anything supernatural. While I hold dear everyone's right to pursue happiness however they see fit, I worry and work against all of the ill affects of organized religion in this world...expecially when they would legislate their religious beliefs and attempt to take away my freedom to pursue my happiness as I see fit.

Atheism is not as belief in fighting other beliefs. It is simply the belief that there is no higher power. You are not being persecuted, so get over it.
Got ur e-mail...still standing by the first two sentences. I did assume however that you were a Christian. My bad. I guess assuming just made an *** out of me, not so much you though.

Religions are just way of life. Most important is to believe in the power who created us. Do not deny that power.
