A man who gains the whole world profits a great deal, especially since he has no soul to lose.
If I had a soul and could sell it, I would exchange it for endless loving intimacy with the woman I love....Alas I have no soul to sell and so like most men, must beg, grovel and crawl on my belly in servitude to profit even a little from her attentions. At moments like these I wish God were real and I had a soul to sell to the devil for a little lovin'. An eternity in hell could not obliterate the memory of a lifetime of loving from the one I want. Sigh! Never can find the Devil when I want him...oh well back to grovelling....

exactly what is your question if you are seeking what does the statement mean simply this if you spend your whole lifetime seeking fame and fortune and neglect the spiritual when you die you cant take it with you so you lose in more ways than one on the contrary if you spend your life building a relationship and spiritual goals you have everlasting life something you cant buy with all the money in creation so dont waste your time on worthless endeavors Gorbalizer

you can not serve the world and God.. The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one... So if you chose to follow the world then you are choosing Satan.. If you follow the bible then you are choosing God. Then you have the hope of Jesus sacrifice to apply to you..
