If you're on a first name basis :
"Qu'est-ce que tu fais? Je suis content (contente if you're female) que nous soyons amis."

If this is a distant relation:
"Que faites-vous? Je suis content (contente if you're female) que nous soyons amis."

I'm not going to give you the pronunciation, because if would take miles on end.

The difference between both wordings is French is using the "thou" that's been abandoned by English. Adjectives also have a gender in French
