Every soldier whether retd or serving pays for his quota of alcohol which is again issued in limited quantity also unlike bloody civilians a soldier never gets drunk and fall in drain or nallah, if our country cant' provide even this facility to soldier who has sacrificed his entire life serving in areas and worst conditions that a normal human especially an INDIAN can't even imagine!!Then it will be a matter of "SHAME" and nothing else because a soldier always understands his responsibilty better than anybody else that is why he actually never retires he remains a"SOLDIER", always alert and evergreen.

This is for the people who do not understand the Q?
The idea of providing things for a soldiers' ration is very old, Romans were given dry Pork, beans salt and wine, very little money if any.
Money is a very recent thing. The soldiers are older then the money.
Rum/whiskey was a part of USA Calvary pay. Even during prohibition in India, Indian soldiers had this unique item as perk.

No!! they should be provided with better counselling and respect. They have served your country and protected it while you and your kids were sleeping at nights. They have suffered through harsh winter and scrogging sun to make sure that you and your family have that peace of mind and live with dignity. They have sacrificed and protected your country from the enemy and traitors. So what they need is not alcohol....the deserve some respect and better after service treatment.

yes. the servicemen pay for it. it started with the british system. only a few servicemen who served in action areas of APO 56 and 99 are non drinkers(please note i do not call them alcholics). Its an essential thing to be provided of course its not for booz but as an essential need. every service men payfor the alcohol if purchased from canteen. in order to prevent misuse there is quota for it. you cannot buy morethan that limit.

This is very very important for them. In fact government should give them a special ID like ration card and they can go to any bar and drink as much as they like. This is the best gift for defending the nation.

Why should they be provided alcohol?
Give them better social status, pay, etc, etc. But not alcohol?
