If so why don't you do that to a potato too?

yes and it is possible. skin of potato is very thin and delicate where is that of apple is more stiff and stronger.

I do that. Why? I don't know. Just weird I guess. I peel a potato that way too.

Only when I am bored, or think that "perhaps this time..." but I never seem to peel one all at once, so I really quit and just peel it off in sections.
