It has to be atleast 10 year old. i have a freeview box connected to it, but when on the av channel the picture goes blank and the only way to get it back is to fiddle about with the scart connection. i have tried a new scart cable and the same thing happens. is there any way of fixing this or do i just dump it and get a new one?

It's not the cable! It sounds like dry joints on the socket mounted on the TV. Don't try to repair it yourself as there are some 20,00 volts inside waiting for you, even if the set has been off for weeks

The solder connections to the jack are bad. Resolder said jack connections.

i would check with the manufactors of mitsubihi on this one, it sounds a little more technical than dumping it out. it can be fixed : )
