I think most online dating sites are a scam.

I have never really used one, but from what I have heard most of the profiles are not real people, or if they are real people, they are lying about everything.

Online dating is for people who refuse to get out of their houses and socialize, and find someone in the real world.

I find that men on dating sites are the same as in real life: some are scum, some only want sex, some are dangerous, some are not good looking but lonely, some are good looking but stupid, some are average looking wonderful people that just want to find someone like themselves to love. You have to be VERY careful. Don't answer someone that appears to be shallow. You should get to know the person online first so you can figure out what they want (whether that be good or bad). Don't give out your last name and phone number to anyone until you are sure they can be trusted. Always meet them in person in a public place. If they have any intelligence at all, they will understand why you are being careful and not be offended.

I think in all truth, I believe dating sites are a great idea because you're able to talk to the person about their likes, interest and see just how well you get along with each other instead of going to bar and find the first girl that looks good to you and you'd take home to get "close" to. Also, though, people can misrepresent themselves online and could be a total different person face-to-face.

I think if you're a truthful guy on a dating site looking for a personality match for you -- HOORAY. If you're on a dating site misrepresenting yourself just because you don't believe you can get someone out there -- BOO on you. I think people in general should use dating sites to see what else is out there instead of just using it to see what you can get from lying about yourself.

I believe the best way you find the perfect match is to be yourself, because once they find out who you really are what makes they think they'll like you?

I respect the men that are out there on dating sites for the right reasons and not all the wrong reasons.

Think about why you're going on the dating site, and that will answer the question for men as well. Many people don't have much time to go out, or don't enjoy the singles scene. I can understand why an older mature man would join a dating site. He doesn't want to be out at a bar among young people, with whom he has nothing in common. Good luck.

Are you referring to any particular dating site? Do you have one in mind that you are disputing/researching?
Dating sites are all the rage these days and there are different categories of them, legit ones and scams alike. You just have to weed out the scam artists and do your homework to find a legit selection.
This is a perfect vehicle for the following candidates:

*those who have a busy work schedule
*those who are, for various reasons, house bound
*those who are not into the bar/club scene
*those who don't see the point in taking innumerible hours to find a good match.
*those who need a "boost" and are too shy to do it all on their own--it takes a lot of guts to stick your neck out and risk being rejected right there on the spot, and sometimes in front of their friends and your's

I hope this helps as it applies to both men and women seeking heterosexual and homosexual dating.

To add, my brother found his true love over the internet. He's a dashingly handsome gentleman and was just tired of running into the wrong people. He was able to hone his search by simply listing his background and interests and VOILA!!!.....instant success! They've known eachother now, for five years, and have been married for 2 1/2.

Good luck...

I met my bf on a dating site and he's totally hot and he's really sweet and smart and successful. We've been together for 3 years now. I think dating sites are a very common way to meet people now. It's not like the people on the dating sites are desperate, they are busy or just don't meet a lot of people in other places.

Nothing wrong with guys who date online. IMHO its a great way to get to know people a bit better before meeting them.
Just think of all the time you waste trying to chat to someone in a noisey bar just to find out they're completely boring.
It's a great way for guys to get to know a bit more about a girl before investing time in a relationship.

Not sure what your asking? What dating sites, what men?

If your referring to why a man would go to a typical dating site my first response would be to get a date.

Some men really want a new way to find a date, others are just looking for some a** and others are just creepy and looking for someone to stalk or murder.

I think it works for some, others it doesnt. If you are looking for someone, it wouldnt hurt. No one really knows that it is you unless they live in your town or know you so you have nothing to be ashamed of. It has worked for a ton of other people, give it a try!!
