It depends on the player. Some can be made region free by using the remote and hitting a few buttons. Others need to be taken apart and modified.

If it's a DVD player and not DVD drive (in a PC), you can't do it by entering in a code. You need to get your DVD player 'chipped', ie. installing a chip that is hacked.
