Yes. The only catch for your co-signer is that if you default, the creditor will chase after your co-signer to make payments and this will ruin his/her credit. When someone co-signs for you they are guaranteeing the lender that they will take over payments, should you defualt, so in a way the co-signer is lending you his/her credit so you can get the loan. Thank God, if you can get someone to co-sign a loan for you, but, also respect their trust in you and use this assistance wisely; do the right thing and make payments on time.

RE:On an auto loan if you get a co-signer with perfect credit is it a given that you will get the loan?

normally yes but it depends on the amount of credit they already have out compared to their income.

So lets say the co-signer is your dad. but he has 2 other cars on his credit, the house, and say 5 credit cards. he makes 125,000 a year. They most likely won't allow another car loan as then the credit amount will exceed his income level.

Just cause you have good credit doesn't mean you just get money when you want.

How is your credit? Consider that as well. And it depends on where you go. If your credit and bad but you have a good co signer then you will get it with a high interest rate

100 % yes.

The other co-singer goes on the hook just like you so it as if they are getting the loan also. The lender has the ability to go after him you can not make your payments. So to them it is a very safe proposisiton to have a cosigner with perfect credit.
