When we eloped, it was a spur of the moment kind of decision, I wore jeans and a cute white shear shirt over a white tank.. the bottom of the legs on my jeans had zippers and I even wore a garter under the jeans.. husband wore jeans and a polo shirt. The pics came out great, we look happy and like we were having fun. :)

Perhaps you should try wearing an off white light dress still with a veil, elegant and simple, keeping in mind that it is his first wedding and the idea of the colored dress doesn't sound good to me, I don't think you should, because it would catch more attention for people to think something's off or you are sending the message you don't really want them to know, because it's in the past and it doesn't even matter. I think you could even wear a white dress, sheer with a beautiful design, mostly on the delicate side, as I said simple and elegant, a friend of mine got married last december, (remarried) her previous husband passed away and she wore a beautiful see through white, plain dress, sleveless and looked very beautiful, you can still take the pictures, and if it fits you perhaps you can wear an elegant hat if it's going to be a summer wedding, you can also get married at the beach even if it's only very few people, just have lots of flowers to make it look beautiful, since you care about the photos, the best thing is to make your photos look awesome

I would still wear a white dress of some kind (it just shouts "I'm getting married!"). Wear something that you will be proud to show your future children a picture of you in and you won't mind putting on display. I would find a dress around Easter (they always have tons of them in white at the department stores). Also ask for your fiance's input, he may have his heart set on the big dress.

They only time I've seen white as abrassive is if you have kids that already think you are forgetting their father. Little details like that may make a difference. Otherwise, if you look good in white, wear white. I personally look horrible in white... so I had to find a color mixed into to the white for my first gown. Good luck on the wedding... I can feel your jitters. Mine is planned for the 30th of June and I'm already in panic mode, too.

I think for a small ceremony, you should do a nice white pant suit(wide legged pants and fitted jacket). I think that would be appropriate. Also, you could do an ivory or off-white color. I wouldn't do a summer dress, I think that's probably a bit too informal and something your witness should wear.

I wore a off white two piece skirt outfit. My husband wore a suit and tie. My witness wore a nice dress (that she already had in her closet) and my husbands friend wore black jeans and a leather vest with a dress shirt. We also had pictures. It does not really matter what you wear, just as long as you are happy getting married. Congratulations and good luck.

Its YOUR wedding, wear what YOU want!
I asked my husband what HE wanted; he wanted the full gown, veil, and everything.
If you're going for simplicity, then by all means go with a simple white dress. You can find all sorts of lovely dresses online.
