I was at Circus Circus in Las Vegas for a little family fun time. After we called it a night, we walk out the doors to the valet area and some girl races past us with great haste. She then bends over and vomits all over the place. She wipes off her mouth and walks off. As we are watching with amazement, I began to ponder over a question: Why is vomiting in public acceptable but urinating and going #2 not. Vomiting is arguably more gross than doing #1 or #2.

What if I had the "runs"...I cant go around to a bush if there is not bathroom in sight? But still yet, I can Barf with no problems anywhere, anytime, anyplace in America and its ok!

Your thoughts...

Vomiting is not acceptable in public. However, as you observed, sometimes the body cannot wait until you reach a restroom. Unfortunately, there are some people whose bodies have forced them to defecate or urinate before they reached a rest room, also. They usually require a change of clothes as well.

I think that some people may mistakenly excuse public vomiting as it is a side effect of excessive drinking, which we all know is cute and uproarious [he said sarcastically]. However, it is still reprehensible public behavior.

I agree that vomiting is more disgusting than urinating but I think the big difference is control. Even when I've had to go really bad, I've always been able to find a restroom first and do it with decency in private. On the other hand, when I have to vomit, I've usually got less than 20 seconds to find a place to do it. So I'd say while public vomiting is not "acceptable" per se, it's allowed generally without penalty because it is something people have less control over.

As others have pointed out it is often harder to control, so it may be unavoidable... it's often a side effect from being drunk but can also be caused by other illnesses, something might've come up after she'd gone out... or for example chemotherapy may cause vomiting too. But it's still kinda weird to just walk off... however embarrasing it'd be, I think it'd still be correct to see someone from the circus, apologize and explain what happened. Unless you fear another bout if you stick around but in that case she'd have hurried afterwards too, to get to a restroom after all or to get home or whatever.

I agree, it really isn't acceptable under any circumstances. I am a professional vomitter (weak tummy!) and I can always tell when it is coming, how long I have, etc so that I end up in the restroom when it happens.

The problem arises when people get completely sh*tfaced and have no control over their systems. These are the same people who often end up with urine in their panties and marker on their faces the next morning.

I was at a football game a copule of weeks ago and these drunk teens climbed into the seats behind me (for which they did not have tickets) and proceeded to puke everywhere. Not one of them thought to get out of there until we turned around yelling. Not one of them attempted to clean up the mess, no one apologized, and the puker kept puking!!

Simple manners and courtesy people!

Yes, it's gross, but I guess people are expected to be able to control their #1's and #2's more than vomiting. At least try to find a trashcan. Spare a thought for the people who get barfed right in front of and then they have to clean it up. I've had that wonderful experience in my work life.

Really couldn't say, maybe in LAS VEGAS what happens there stays there....Surely she doesn't just Vomit and go,all the time.I do know that vomiting is gross but at times it just hits you.If you are an adult, you should tell someone when you make a mess.Small children usually are cleaned up by the parent..hey did you win?

Yes, puke has the potential to be the most repulsive substance to leave the body, althugh it comes in grades and some puke is much more vile than some other.

I think that it is less reviled because
a) There is no exposure of private parts involved, and
b) it is much less voluntary and just can't be helped, even less voluntary than having the turbo-sh!ts.

Just my theory.

Gross!!

Vomiting in public isn't acceptable, but sometimes its unavoidable. About the only thing this woman should have done was get someone to wash the area off, other than that.....what could she do?

I have never seen that in my life. It might just be a Vegas thing. Vomiting in public would be totally unacceptable where I'm from.

vomiting is involuntary and cant be delayed or controlled, unlike urination or defecation, except for your example. It's not OK it's embarrassing for sober people, as she prob was not.
