I am craving baked beans, but usually they are high in sugar and sodium. Anyone have a lower sodium recipe? It can be with or without meat.

Baked Beans

A picnic's not a picnic without baked beans. These also freeze well, so you might want to make a double batch while you're at it. You may add chopped smoked chicken or pork or a cooked pork chop if you want the additional meat flavor.

1/2 lb Navy Beans
4 c Water
1 c Chili Sauce
3/4 c Onion,Chopped
2 T Molasses
2 T Brown Sugar
1 1/2 t Dry Mustard
1/4 t Garlic Powder
1 c Water

Place beans in 4 cups water in large saucepan. Bring to boil and cook 1 minute. remove from heat and let stand 1 hour. return to heat and simmer until almost done, about 1 hour. Drain. Mix together with remaining ingredients. Place in a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Cover and bake 2 hours. Add water if needed during cooking.
