Depends on your furniture and style. Darker colors lend to a warmer room, like burgundy.
Blue is more a royal look, while greens are more informal.

Have fun decorating!

Swatches, swatches, swatches! You have obviously decided that this color goes with your current furniture colors, so this is a good starting point. The earth tones are making a come-back, so if you are planning on re-doing your furniture too, it sounds like you have decided to go with the earth tones. Look at nature and see what works well with gold in nature - almost anything. White, not so much.

Get some swatches from a drapery and re-upholstering (if that's what you're also doing) supply store and bring them home to hold up to your wall. Tape them there with double-sided tape or folded-over removable tape (Scotch brand "blue tape" works well and won't hurt your freshly painted walls). Observe how the colors interact with the wall color at different times of the day. The lights and shadows do make a difference!

If you haven't actually painted your walls yet, paint a sample square on your wall near the windows you're wanting to cover; then, after the paint is nice and dry, apply the swatches and observe throughout the day. This will help you bring your color theme together, and you won't have any horrifying surprises as I did with unfortunate color suggestions by well-meaning friends.

And if you change your mind about your paint color (which you may well not want to!), you can always primer over your wall samples.

Enjoy your redecorating!

I have the same color walls and I have deep red curtains and accents. It looks great but is a bit bold for many tastes. If you have the gold walls and want a more muted accent color. a deep chocolate goes great as well.

Any of the jewel tones would work~Burgandy, Emerald, Cobalt. Do you already have furniture that will be in the room? Pull a color out of it if you do. They also make some Beautiful floral & striped fabric drapes in the jewel tones that would be gorgeous with your gold, IF that would work with your furniture:)
Good Luck!

Navy blue and gold is fabulous, Burgundy and gold is great too, You really can use any color with the gold. What color are your floors? I would go with that,
