I want to do the South Beach diet. Have you tried it or know someone who has? Does it work? What do you know?! Any and all feed back would be helpful!

I have been on the diet for 11 days and lost 8 pounds. I'm 5'3" and started at 128 and, as of this morning I'm 120. Previously, I exercised a few times a week. My husband's new doctor told him to read the book since he has about 40 pounds to lose. He did and I decided it would be easier to join him as he does this so that we can cook together. I'm very glad I did! I love that this was developed by a cardiologist so I know I'm doing something good for my heart. Its very motivating to see a pound a day drop away. My husband has lost 12 lbs in 11 days! I highly recommend doing this with a significant other. I recommend buying the South Beach meals in the frozen food section and bringing them to work. Most of the meals are very easy to cook - we stock up on groceries Sunday night. I think eating breakfast is the key here. I used to love muffins/toast, etc. so eating eggs, meat and cheese 1st thing every day doesn't always seem appetizing, but this weekend I slept in and started with lunch and didn't loose any pounds either day. Yesterday I ate breakfast and started losing again. I recommend slicing a lot of vegetables and storing in the fridge - it makes meals go a lot faster. There are good recipe books for this at Borders.

I am doing it right now and I like it becaus eit really seems to me that it is teh way we are supossed to eat. Mainly good wholesome food that keeps you full and gives you the nutrients you need.

I was in week 2 of phase 2 (check out the book from the library but don't buy it cause it is not that helpful for the day to day living) and decided that I had started to stray a bit so I am going back to phase 1 for a week to re-set.

Try it out but don't let the restrictions on phase 1 daunt you, eat plenty of phase 1 foods and don't go hungry.

Good luck to us all!

i did the diet, and while its great for weight loss, it was very hard for me to later balance deserts because it was taboo the entire diet. i would do it, its fun and it feels like a game very often, but try not to get emotionally involved, it could really backfire. good luck on the diet!!!

i'll be startin on it at the end of this week and i'm really lookin forward to it. i'd like to think that i eat rather healthy already, so this isn't that big of a change for me. for me, i'll still get to eat my favorite foods. if you're mind is really set on loosin weight and keepin it off then you're already on the right path. below i included a lil link that i happen to find and thought it was very heplful. i wish you the best~!

It works and is a lot easier than Atkins. You can incorporate some of their products tho. They are less expensive and easier to find.
