First: neuter him. Very important. AND_ get him checked for a UTI. Cats will go in other places, trying to avoind their box, as they associate the pain of going with their box... so they try to go somehwere else hoping it won't hurt. Rule that out asap.
secondly, clean the area very well, using a NON AMMONIA cleaner.
Make sure kittie's box is kept extra clean and in a low traffic area. Cats like privacy at their box.
Feliway spray is another option, it tells kitty all is well.

is he Neutered? if not, then you should think about getting it done. And is he the only animal in the house? There are alot of reasons he could be doing this. Not enough attention, more cats in the house, not a clean enough litterbox, bladder infection, spraying his sent (not neutered) ...... and on and on! If at all fails see a vet... they may be able to recommend some products you can use at home. Keep a log for when he does pee so that you can figure out what triggers it.

Getting him neutered would be the best and quickest resolution for this situation. If you do not want to have this procedure performed on him then try you local pet supply store, some places carry a spray that you can put on floors, furniture to prevent them from spraying. Also the water bottle works great, squirt him as soon as he hikes his leg, eventually he will get the point. Try closing your bathroom door to keep him from urinating in the shower, or if you catch him in the act, squirt away.

the best way to have a cat stop spraying is to have them nuetered, also try filling a small handheld water gun up and everytime he goes into the shower to pee, spray him with the water, he will learn not to do it. cats hate water.

The simple solution for this complex problem is neuter him. Actually spraying urine at different spots is the normal habit of the felids for marking its territory and also to attract the opposite sex by means of phermones.
By neutring, attracting the other sex may get dimiinished....

Get him neuterd - though it might be to late once a male cat is allowed to sexually mature and they develop normal tom cat behaviors the behaviors might stay even after he is fixed. Should have had him fixed!
