Im interested in knowing ways of choosing the right wines to compliment foods.. the difference between the vast choices.. what is a good wine for the money... what are some attributes to drinking wine instead of beer/liquor... how do you find out where wine tastings are.. & any comments having anything dealing with wine

Pinot Grigio...one of the best tasting wines with a huge variety of foods. From pasta to chicken, even pizza!! Trader Joes has some great prices on some lovely vintners.

Wine tends to be pretty fattening cuz of the sugars so drink moderately. BUT it is a heart friendly beverage so that's cool.

Google your local wineries. Most offer tastings on the weekends.

Maybe host your own tasting...buy a few cheap bottles at Trader Joe's (with the help of a rep) and make some appetizers. Invite some friends over and get first hand comments on what they did/didn't like.

While there are wine experts that can reccomend wines and provide information, I truly believe that wine is a personal thing. There are generalities, like serve white wine chilled and red wine at cellar temp, red wine with red meats/sauces, white wine with white meats/sauces, and so forth, but a lot of information about wine comes from your experiences. Persoanlly, I prefer stronger wines (Chardonnay and Shiraz) and always have enjoyed wines from the Yellow Tail vineyard. Their wine's are reasonably priced and have always had great quality. You will find that although there are vast selections of varitels, even the same varietal from different vineyards in different countries are very different. Tastings are usually advertised at local liquor stores or restaurants. You can usually find some information in the form of a flyer at a liquor store. My suggestion to you is, with an open mind, start trying wines and finding out what you like. Food pairing is difficult, especially if you have never tasted the wine, or do not like the wine. A lot of wine is based on personal preferance. I prefer wine over beer/liquor because I enjoy the taste and wine is shown to have some health qualities. Once you start trying new things, you will learn what you like and what food you would like with it. I will leave you with the best tip I ever received, especially for pairing. The best way to pair food with wine is to use some of the wine you will be drinking in part of the food (i.e. sauce). This will connect the food to the wine nicely. Have fun!!!

The color of the wine should match the color of the food. Red wine with Red Meat, White Wine with White meat. Most California wines are good, even under ten dollars. Some French wines are good, but if it costs more than $25, it is really for show. Don't waste the money. Wineries are the best places to taste wine. Wine is generally a nicer, gentler taste than beer or other liquors. Restaraunts that serve wine usually charge way too much

But Wine really comes down to the drinker. Everyones tastes are different. I recommend experimenting with a variety. Start in the 8 to 12 dollar range, find what you like then when you go back to the liquor store ask for a wine specialist and tell him what you liked, why you liked it and see if he could match you with a more "expensive" or better quality. My wife and I like two totally different things about wine. She can't stand what I drink and Vise versa.

The rule of what type of wine for the type of food is Red with Beef, Red/blush with Veal, Red/blush/white with Pork, Blush/White with Chicken, White with Fish.
Generally you can get a decent bottle of wine in the $10 - $12 dollar category. The Wine gets better with the higher price generally.
Cabernet Savignon, Pinot Noir, Red Zin, Merlot, Shiraz goes great with Beef and Italian red sauces but Cab goes well with other dishes like Stews and tomato sauces.
Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Savignon Blanc and Blush goes great with Fish and Chicken dishes with cream sauces etc.
Wine tastings are generally held at an upscale liquor store. They announce in advance when it will be.
Wine is an acquired taste. To be able to appreciate wine you need to taste the different types/varietals etc. They are all unique and include natural flavors of Berries/Cherry's/Oak/Floral etc.
My Fav is Cabernet Savignon.

WELL LAST MONTH i TASTED WINE FOR MY FiRST && LAST TiME. iT TASTED SO BAD i THREW UP ALL THE GRAPES i ATE HAD ATE A COUPLE OF MiNUTES AGO. iT WAS SO TERRIBLE
