If a Christian is single and comfortable with it, then no one really encourages them to become "unsingle" but if they are dating and such, we encourage marriage so they dont slip into all the premarital sex and the ease of living together.

Because it's a race to breed and thus win the religion war. Because in christianity, you are not supposed to have sex before marriage. Thus children can only come from getting married. The point is to have a very large family(because of no contraceptives) which the catholic family will raise in the same religion. SO These rules will create a very larger catholic following and be the more dominant religion of the world.

Marriage is a calling from God. --- What God has joined; let no man tear apart --- This is why man leaves his mother & father and clings to his wife ---
Each person God made is unique. Some are called to be Priests, others Prophets, others Teachers, some to be Married. I guess Marriage is more often though of as common rather than Holy as described by the Bible ... but many Christians do recogize the Holiness of Marriage and wish for blessinging of Marriage (as defined by Bible) for people they love.
God can sometimes nudge you through friends and acquantances to help you receive his blessings; although you still have the Free Will to accept of decline this gift.

B/c they think having sex without marrige is a sin. Which is why if I have sex I'm never telling my old fashioned Grandparents about it. They have a delusion that I will be married someday. When really I'm never getting married.

Because you were meant to have a partner in life.
Obsessed? Don't think so. But when you find your life partner it makes sense to marry. It's also how you start a family unit.
