I'm a Christian myself, but I'm not a churchgoer. I personally think there is way too much obsession with it in the world.

Those who have been forgiven much or saved from much, love much.

Jesus said that He would rather us Christians be cold or hot in our obsession (love) for Him. If we are luke warm it makes Him sick.

Last Sunday the Pastor preached that these letters to the Churches were to the Angel of the Churches/ the Pastors. (Angels = messengers.) So, the Church Body picks up on what the Pastor feels for God. Has the Pastor left his first love? Then that will flow out to the Church Body. Is the Pastor in love with the Lord, like the first love? The that will flow out the Church Body. So in our church, we are taught to return to our first love. The romantic love that happens when one first falls in love. If never had this first love, to come forward for salvation. And those who have left their first love to come forward to repent of it. So, last Sunday this was done.

What happens in some churches is that the Pastor leaves his first love & the Church leaves her first love (Jesus), and the conscequences of the anointing light (candle stick) on the church is removed (Rev. 2:1-7).

And if we don't love God with all our heart mind soul & strength, then the devils copy-cats to fill this void is made available. There is an inner need to restored in relationship with God. And to have an ongoing/ forever relationship with God.

When we call on God through His Spirit, we pray to Him and He prays to us. We need to listen to God. Many times God confirms what He told us from the Pastor at church.

It is true that the Lord God of the Holy Bible will give you discernment in what book is His Book. That would be the Holy Bible, and the Personal testimony of all who believe in Him. The answer above me likes the book of Mormon also. Though the book of Mormon also needs to be discerned by the Holy Spirit. But the Lord God of the Holy Bible hates false doctrines or apochryphal writings. Read Revelations to the 7 Churches. The Lord has already shown me the Contradictions to His Word in the book of Mormon. These would be wolves in sheeps clothing. And this is one thing you are vulnerable to as a sheep who doesn't gather with the Lord Jesus Christ's flock.

When one worships the Creator of the universe, it is appropriate to be obsessed.

As to your statement that you are a Christian, but not a churchgoer, I would have to ask why not go to church? If you are not serving in a local church body, you are a disobedient Christian. One important Scripture regarding church attendance for Christians is this:

“And let us continue to consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another even more as you see the day coming nearer.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

John Calvin and Martin Luther, both of whom were important figures in the Reformation of the Church, believed so strongly in corporate worship that they made comments like, “Apart from the Church, salvation is impossible.” (Martin Luther) And, “So highly does the Lord esteem the communion of the Church, that He considers everyone a traitor and apostate from religion who perversely withdraws himself from any Christian society which preserves the true ministry of the Word and Sacraments.” (John Calvin)

Here's another reason: (I Peter 5:8) "Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour."

If we separate from the Body (the church), we are alone in the faith. The devil and his minions are like wolves, hyenas, coyotes and other animals that hunt in packs. In the wild, these animals rarely attack a herd or flock. They wait for one or two to get separated from the rest. They go for the stragglers, who are usually the weakest, either from the journey or illness. Then the predators attack. It's never fair. Five or six to one. And the attacked animal almost always loses.

Likewise, the Christian who separates from the church, is alone. Without a constant diet of solid biblical preaching, and encouragement from other (and stronger) believers, this Christian becomes weak and malnourished in the Word. Their defenses are down. Then the devil and the demons attack. Since the Christian is alone, weak and malnourished, he/she has nothing to defend themselves with, and they succumb to temptation or become disillusion with the faith, and fall away. Their testimony gets damaged, their faith is in shreds, and they wonder, "Why bother?" and quit. Then the devil is satisfied.

It is like this: If the devil can't have your soul, he will have your walk and testimony, if you let him. And skipping church is a sure fire way to go down that road.

I am "OBSESSED" with God because as I strive to follow his commandments I find it easier to be happy, I have less stress in life, it is easier to overcome challenges that come my way, and life is just better when I am walking the paths that he would have me tread.
How do I know what he would have me do? I read the scriptures.

God is all around us...the design and order of the universe. And its chaos as well. God just is a part of life.
