I'm from Michigan and when I was 17, I left home and went to Florida with my boyfriend. My parents tried to get the police to bring me back and they said they couldn't do anything cause I was legally an adult. I'm 25 now. I'm not saying don't go, but consider every possible aspect before you go. Your already better off than I was because neither one of us knew anyone down there. And I missed my graduation and had to graduate late, so if your in school, please finish it first and then do what you want to do. Education is very important.

In your Mom's mind, in less than a year, she will have lost her baby for the rest of her life. She has less than a year to keep you close to her. Don't take that away from her. You have the rest of your life to live and make your own decisions, but this one at this time, is hers. You will be 18 before you know it and the time apart from your boyfriend is a great way to test the relationship. If you want your Mom's blessing, I'd suggest approaching her and telling her you decided that you won't fight her on the issue but that you plan on going as soon as high school is over and would she please help you plan for the move? Then she will feel involved and maybe feel good about you going. Also, don't get caught up on the money thing. Please believe me that you MUST get an education or skill so that you can financially take care of yourself. Don't depend on a man for that.

When I was 17 I wanted to follow my girlfriend, at that time, to Florida. Thank God I didn't. She told me she loved me before she left. She arrived in Florida, pick up a boyfriend right away, and that was the end of me.
Now I have a happy family life and wouldn't change a thing.
As for her, It's not even worth talking about it.

The best way to convince a parent of anything is to show that you're responsible. Waiting for him to get settled and make sure he can find work, while you earn money to pay for your own move once you turn 18 seems like the way to convince your mother you're ready. If he is committed to your relationship, he'll wait for you.

Looks like U already did your thing/part. This time, (if he really cares the right way) let him know you expect him to find his way there to your house/home, come to the front door, meet your mother, as this will impress her the most. REALLY! Any other way, may be a disaster, (if U really like him, & if he really dose like you, at least the same way. When ever a girl makes it too easy for a man/guy, he's likely to take the easiest way around every dilemma, so men do want and like challenges, trust that!

Your mother has more sense than you apparently do. If he really loves you and intends for you two to be together for the future then he can move you down there after you reach 18...and have agreement with your mother.

You want to uproot yourself to a place where you don't have any friends or opportunities, for a boy? I don't think you're going to convince your mom that's a good idea, because it isn't. If you're going, then go. She can't actually stop you. Just know that it's a terrible idea, but love makes us dumber.

Until you're an adult, 18, there's nothing you can do. Simple as that.
If you run away, you'll be returned to your gaurdian. Just wait until you're 18 and you can make your own decisions.

Are you getting married? If not, don't go. You need to explore life on your own, and figure out what you want before you become part of someone else's life.
