nd the remote control is kinda randomly bought from a local supermarket.

however it does say its called

URC22B universal (15 in one) remote control

You don't need to know a code ,by pressing a sequence of buttons on the remote when the set is on you will reach a point where the set goes into standby when you press the standby button.At this point you have found the code but it will take time to find it..This should be explained in the instructions, have you read them?.The Hitachi codes in the instruction book should be tried first.

about the tv specifications
and the name/model of the universal remote control u have
i could narrow the codes down
to 2 0r 3 options
not all universals
have 4 number code.
number codes vary
from remote to remote
some have 3or 5 number codes
yet will still operate the
same tv or video/dvd
1 types 4digit code
will not be recognised
by another remotes
code.if u can leave more

a learning facility ,wereby u toggle 2 buttons
usually seek and power off. until u switch the tv off,takes about 1hour sometimes to reach your code lol (sore and bore)function i call it! {8~}
