What do you feel like wearing? Do you already own a favorite dress or suit that you can wear with a little hat that has a veil attached to give it a more bridal like feel? If you are concerned about the traditionalism of it, then wear off-white or ivory. If it is not a big deal and the wedding is in the spring wear a spring color like pink, hot pink, yellow or butternut and go from there. If the wedding is now in the winter, how about Navy or even Chocolate.

Wear what you want. Wearing white is traditionally a sign of virginity. These days, ANYONE can be seen wearing white.
Make your wedding your own and do what you like, not what others would like you to be, whether it be jeans and t-shirt, or a frilly dress.
Most people who get married at the Justice of Peace wear semi-casual.

You can wear anything you want, it's still your wedding. When being married by (not at, s/he's a person, not a place) a Justice of the Peace, many women wear a nice dress, but not necessarily a wedding gown. But some women do, so it's entirely up to you.

It's your day, it can be as formal or informal as you want it to be - even at the JP. If you don't want to wear a white dress then wear a cream or ivory suit. However, you can get a lovely gown at David's Bridal very inexpensively. I was just at a bridal show yesterday and they have some nice gowns. Also, if you get a bridesmaids gown in white or ivory, you save even more and it looks less formal. Good luck and congratulations.

I do not think that the white if too formal. What you can do is whear the white in a very classy way; like a suit or a dress )like a destination wedding dress). You can also do the white in a tea lenght dress. You have other color options like cream, champagne, ivory or even a verly light gold. Wear what you like and what you feel most comfortable is. It is your day. Make sure that you enjoy it.
Congratulations!!!

Wear whatever you want. Just because you're not having a formal/semi-formal wedding doesn't mean that you can't wear a white dress.

It's the courthouse so you don't want to get all formal. And all white is going to look a bit funny at this time of year. Just wear something nice and lean toward conservative.
And congratulations!

I got married at the court house and wore a white simple sundress. I think a simple sundress is as formal as you should go, but it's according to your style. I almost wore Liberty overalls since I'm a country girl! So just wear what feels right and you should be fine! CONGRADULATIONS!!!
