I'm a college student and this next summer I've been chosen to be part of a group that will travel to Kenya to help in an educational project. But I must pay for my expenses and flight ticket which sums up to 3000 dollars. Does anyone know some good fundraising ideas?

selling candy like the elementary school kids or doing summer chores like raking leaves, mowing lawns, cleaning out garages, or perhaps a baking business? Making cookies or cakes and selling them at a profit?
Find your talent and utilize it.
Childrens entertainment is high profit, rent yourself as a clown or another character for an hour and see the dough roll in.
Good luck!!

Partylite offers a votive candle fundraiser which usually yields some pretty good profit. You basically sell votive candles which most everyone has in their home.

You can also go to Costco or Sam's club and buy your own boxes of chocolate bars and sell them for a dollar a bar. It will take you longer to raise with this tacktic, but combination with the above would speed up the process.

Valentines is coming up, go to a discount florist again like Costco or Sam's and buy up a bunch of their roses or even put an order in with them and see if they will give you a bulk deal. Then on Valentines go around and sell them to local businesses, resturants, etc.

Doing a raffle is a great idea, but you should get items to draw out that people would like to own, not something everyone already has. Depending on where you are, there's a company that also provides you with catalogs for distribuition and they sell you the products at marginal costs, so you keep the profits.

Selling $3,000.00 of candy is not an easy task to accomplish.

go around to your local stores, tell them what you are doing,
ask them to donate items that can be raffled off, most places will do this because they get cheap advertising. make up some raffle tickets on your computer or get a printing shop to donate them.
try to get some big ticket items, such as TVs, maybe a trip to somewhere, make sure you do lots of advertising for it. have your friends and relatives help you sell the tickets, plan and put together some kind of get together to hold the raffle. the more items you have to raffle the more people you will get to come.
You can also hold a free car wash, most people will donate at least 10 to 20.bucks a car. some will not give you anything, cause they are bubbleheads. but most will be very generous.
