most people all over the globe, i think, clap in order to praise something/somebody. I would like to know how did this originate and how come it is such a common thing among majority of people???

A standing ovation is the best overture. Clapping is for lesser mortals. If you see or hear something good which you need to praise, make a loud graceful noise in applaud. I have only my two hands and voice. Then I need to clap as well as I can.
