Im a district nurse and my son has eczema. The best thing I have found is a cream called EPADERM. It looks a bit like lard but no smell. You use it in the bath to wash and then as a moisturiser. If your skin is very very dry, try smoothering it on dry areas before you go to bed and apply tubifast over the top, to stop it going all over your bed clothes. Ask the pharmacist or practice nurse for further information regarding wet wrap bandages. If your skin is itchy with the dryness, you can also take anti histamines which you can have from the doctor or over the counter. If you have seen 3 doctors with little relief you are entitled to be refered to a dermatologist (skin specialist). There may be a waiting list or you can pay privately. Hope this helps.

My son suffers from really dry skin and has been given many lotions from the doc with no resolve, he has had diprobase and many others. The only thing that works for him is ELEMIS. This is a range of skin care products and there is a special milk that you can add to your bath that really helps to stop your skin from drying and it wont make you all sticky like creams. I hope this helps?

It sounds like you may have psoriasis. Check with your Dermatologist. My daughter had the same thing on her hands during winter. Less hot water, a hydro cortisone cream on your flaky parts as well as a thick ointment at night. We also find the oil of olay shower lotion to be the best product for dry skin in winter. You wash with dove or aloe vista soap first(closest to the skins own natural ph balance) then put on lotion in shower and rinse of silky smooth.Good Luck

i too tried many posh branded creams like clinique and clarins and in the end decided that original blue nivea cream is best. Its cheap and a thick cream that keeps your skin hydrated for much longer than fancy creams without being as unpleasant and greasy as vaseline or the oily based creams.

i suffer from psorisis, the best treatment i found for my skin is steroid creams but some of these have to be obtained through your doctor, they are usually against it because it thins the skin
